The Province of BC has officially proclaimed March as Women’s Health Research Month (WHRM).

Led by the BC Women’s Health Foundation, WHRM celebrates the research that improves the lives of women and newborns in British Columbia and highlights the critical need to address women’s health research funding gaps.

In Canada, women make up 51% of the population and spend 24% more of their lives in poor health compared to men — yet only 7% of national health research funding is dedicated specifically to women’s health.

At the GCI, we are accelerating transformative research in the prevention, detection, treatment, and survivorship of gynecologic cancers. By leveraging the exceptional talent and rich research environment across BC, we have built a collaborative framework that unites researchers, clinicians, trainees and knowledge users. Our mission is bold and focused: to reduce the incidence and mortality of gynecologic cancers by 50% by 2034.
