As we prepare to welcome a new academic term, the Gynecologic Cancer Initiative (GCI) is excited to host its annual Co-op Orientation Day on September 10, 2026, at the BC Cancer Research Centre Lecture Theatre.
The orientation is open to new and returning co-op, work learn and undergraduate trainees conducting gynecologic cancer research.
Designed as an introduction to GCI’s collaborative research environment, the day provides trainees with an opportunity to learn about the breadth of work, offer an overview of our team and research priorities, as well as a Cancer 101 workshop delivered in partnership with BC Cancer’s GrasPods. The workshop will introduce foundational concepts in cancer biology, treatment, and research methodologies, supporting trainees at varying stages of their academic and professional development. The day will also provide opportunities for trainees to connect with one another, as well as with researchers and staff.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided. We kindly ask that attendees register here to assist with planning.
Supervisors are warmly welcome to attend any portion of the day. In particular, we invite you to join us for the coffee break at 2:30 – 3:00 PM, should you wish to informally connect with the new trainees.
