Ali Bashashati

Dr. Ali Bashashati is the Director of AI Research in the Ovarian Cancer Research Program (OVCARE) with BC Cancer and the University of British Columbia (UBC). He is also an Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering & Pathology and Adjunct Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UBC. Dr. Bashashati earned his BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University in Iran, MSc degree in Biomedical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology in Iran, and PhD degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from UBC. His research combines computational, engineering and biomedical sciences with the aim of discovering novel biological information associated with different diseases, particularly ovarian, breast, and lymphoid malignancies. Dr. Bashashati is also an extensively published author in the fields of cancer genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology and brain computer interfaces with many of his papers appearing in critically acclaimed journals including Nature and Nature Genetics.
